Sport Shot success stories
« on: February 28, 2006, 02:29:01 AM »
Ok, I've really wanted ask this question for a minute, but I was afraid that I'd start some wars or something and that's not the purpouse of this post. I'm really, really looking into getting some Lane 1 stuff, but I'd really like to know how well they fair in tourneys. Specifically, mega buck tourneys and sport shot leagues. If you want to include regionals as well, that's cool too.

This is more curiosity than anything else. Plus, all of the 300, 299, and 800 series awards don't mean anything to me unless it was done on a sport shot, because when I get back into the game, that's what I plan to bowl exclusively! I guess I'm a little bent about these lists because of a conversation I recently had with this bowler I haven't seen in a while.

Well, he was in the middle of his league and I didn't want to bother him, but he said he was fine. He's bowled some 299's, 300's, etc. so he was straight. For some reason, this bothered me...a lot! A 299 & 300 are supposed to be...I don't know, like the Holy Grail of bowling in a way. Hell, a 220-260 should should send over cloud nine for that matter! Now, I'm not saying he's not a good bowler, but I guess I'm realizing how easy the game is and I can't hide from it anymore. Snap! I'm way off subject so please be patient with my post ok.

So, I realize that I don't want to be one of those bowlers that are content with getting high scores week after week. Mabey, just mabey, I really want to challenge myself and my bowling skills and no, I'm not knocking those who do. Mabey some folks don't realize that it's not that difficult. What? Lanes break down, move eyes and feet left or change a ball? Is that all bowling is now? I joke a lot about how I could go into a house and throw a ball up 10 & 5 and get close to the pocket.

Yes, I understand that most bowlers are doing it for recreation, even on a competitive level, but hell, I haven't bowled in a league in years and I probaly could average 170-180 on these conditions they have out now. And what really hurts is I couldn't even get excited about his numbers, because he said it like he does this all the time, doesn't matter where he bowls. (sigh...) I'm done now. Thanks for reading as well.

When you've moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don't cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!
