St Louis - Part 2
« on: September 01, 2003, 04:33:49 AM »
I was able to bowl the 2 Sunday matches with the San Diego & Detroit Ambassadors, St Louis bowlers, and BR members.  It was a lot of fun, even if the pins were stubborn.

I don't have all the results, only those that might be falsified if I don't keep them honest  The first three games were at Dick Weber Lanes, my personal favorite of the 2 houses  It was there that I finally met PinKisser and his family.  A really nice guy, some one I'd have on my team in a heartbeat.  I also met several other BR members, all seemed very nice.  Unfortunately, there was so much going on I did not get to talk to many at length.  I guess that means I'll have to get out to St Louis again some time.

I'd like to mention the SrKegler made some excuse like he just bowled at the center recently and didn't feel it would be fair for him to bowl.  The truth is he's just too old and couldn't wear himself out, then get beat by a lefty, everyone knows he just loves lefties, and a PinKisser

PK and I were assigned on the same team so he couldn't run and he couldn't hide.  Game 1 TP 201 PK 181.  Now I'm sure PK and/or SK will try to convince you it was a 102, trust me it wasn't.

Game 2 I tried to give PK a chance, but he just couldn't handle the pressure TP 170 PK 158 (or something close to that).  The 170 will probably become a 107 from the lefty hating SrKegler.  The truth is that it is TP 2 PK 0 SK chicken.

Game 3 PK pulled a choke in the 10th to go down to defeat again.  I even left an easy spare in the 10th to give him the game.  He refused the gift TP 190 PK 189. What will SK post my score as?? Probably 109.  Well after 3 it is TP 3 and 561 to PK 0 and 525 SK chicken and a big goose egg.

The next stop was Strike & Spare Lanes after some pizza and a rest break.  Teams were reorganized, since the idea was to meet as many people as possible and have fun.  PinKisser was a few lanes down and this time SrKegler did bowl.  He was next pair down from me.

Game 1 TP 173 PK 238-100 (as he reported it to me) Sk 217.  My personal problem was dry backends and I am best at down and in.  I just couldn't keep the speed up enough to keep it in the pocket, no matter what adjustment I tried.  Yes, a lefty and I did try to adjust.  Okay so it is TP 1/0 PK 0/0 and SK 1/1 and overall TP 4 PK 0 SK 2.

Game 2 PK and I improved, SK went down  TP 184 PK 193 SK 181.  I switched from the PDW I'd been using all day to the Pearl Vicious which rolled a little straighter.  Totals this match TP 2 PK 2 SK 2 overall TP 5 PK 2 SK 2.

Game 3, the last and final.  I was the one to choke this time.  I could have shut PK out with a double in the 10th, but Noooooo I had to go strike 9 spare to lose by 1 pin  Sr Kegler, after giving this sob story about how bad he was going to do the last game, beat up on both of us.  It was TP 152 PK 153 and Sk 177.  So the final total for this match was TP 2 PK 3 SK 4 and overall TP 5 PK 3 and SK 4.

That makes me the Princess of the lanes overall.  Yes, SrKegler, more rested, did beat me 2 out of 3 games BUT I did beat up on PinKisser 4 out of 6.  I didn't want to see him cry so I made sure to let him take 2 of 3 at the Strike & Spare Lanes Now that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh BTW Sr Kegler always comments about whiney lefties, I sure did hear him whine about this and that. And the excuses when I beat him that one game.  I was afraid to bowl well and beat him a 2nd time.  Those male egos are sooo fragile.

I think SrKegler is really a closet lefty.  And the post I made quite some time ago about what a nice guy he is, it was all an act.  He let his true colors show this time!  Maybe it was because I refused to give him a signed thong

Well, all I can say is the people from the St Louis area that couldn't show up missed a great opportunity.

We had a total of 10 teams for this event.  I've got to thank ThongPrincess for flying out from Calif to help fill out the Ballreviews team, Pinkisser from driving about5-6 hours from Chicago and Stormerjib who drove about 4 hours from Albion, Il.  The other members of the ball review team were local, Geneperk & A Maverick.

Using my cunning strategy, I paired Thongprincess up with Pin Kisser.  With both of them being in the BOTB club I thought they might have wanted to use those scores for the 1st week challenge.  TP couldn't inflate her scores that way.  Pin Kisser lived up to the challenge shot a 523 the 1st set off of a 160 average.  TP shot 561 bowling off of a 189 average.  Real close matches.  With a little coaching I had Pin Kisser splitting the arrows.  Great improvement for him.

Stormerjib has been having problems of late, I matched him up with my power player Les since they both had the same style.  I think Jeremy has broken out of his slump, he started off with a 146 game, averaged around 197 for the 12 games.

Myself, I didn't bowl the first set.  Up until the time the matches started I wasn't sure who would be able to make it so I "overbooked" the teams.  Besides, this gave me a chance to wander the lanes and get to meet new friends and spend time with old one.

Our own Nicanor got hot the last set at North Oaks.  I could get final series but he did shoot 289, spared the first, 10 pin in the 12th.  I'm pretty sure his last game was 267.  Nicanor even showed me he was able to leave the SrKegler tap.

All in all, this was the best outing I've attended.  Great group of bowlers.  Anyone that  didn't have fun here flat out wasn't trying.

Now, it's time to get to work organizing a trip to San Diego.  Any volunteers??

Finally a trip I won't have to hop on a plane to get to  Depending on when it is, you can count on me to be there.  I may just have to bring down some of my buddied down for it also.

SrKegler, you must be tired you didn't even try to falsify the scores.  You're slipping old man  In all honesty it was a great time

I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to respond to this post but we stayed an extra day to go to the Anhiser (sp) Bush brewery and then a trip to the top of the Arch.  Scary but once up there I loved it.

I shot well there and a Srkegler tap cost me my second 700, but better then that was all the great people I got a chance to bowl with.  I might miss a couple but Srkegler (took him to school) but his shoulder hurt , Thongproncess, Pinkisser and his wife who also bowled with us, Stormerjip and I can't leave out Oli who worked hard to make our last day bowling a great and memorable experience.  These are Ballrewiers.

John Wonders and his family were tremdous.  The tour given at the factor by his son was very informative, and we were split up into two groups while aiting, one with Mr. Wonders and one with Mrs. Wonders.  With Mr. Wonders he talked about Mrs. Wonders and with Mrs. Wonders she talke about Mr. Wonders.  Its amazing to see that after 47 years of marraige.

I have several Visionary bowling balls but after the trip and watching many Blue Sparkle Grphons being thrown, I have to get one.  That ball was tremendous.  I know not on every condition, but as long as there was some head oil and backend, the ball was a carry monster. I sen a lot of Visionary, Lane 1 and Columbia Throttles in those several days.

Hope to see more here in San Diego in the February/March timeframe.

If I forgot to mention your name, sorry

Nicanor

All this nicey-nice stuff here, are you people going soft ??!!

I, too, had a great time meeting everyone in St. Louis!
What a great bunch of bowlers/people!
They even made sure that my wife, who is a "non-serious" bowler, had a good time.

A special thanks to John Wonders & the whole Wonders family for hosting the event ! Also to Sr. Kegler for arranging our group! And to Mrs. Kegler for putting up with Mr. Kegler, the woman is a saint!!!

As for TP, well, I couldn't whoop up on her for our first meeting, so I was nice and let her win a few to build her confidence and to get on her good side. It must have worked, because later on she even modeled one of her thongs for me.

Luckily for us, TP left her club at home while Sr. Kegler came prepared wearing his hard-hat into the lanes.

Both Nicanor and Sr. Kegler helped me out as best they could to find some kind of shot out there, otherwise it would have been much worse. TP did too, without knowing it, which helped me to beat up on her the 2nd set! (Well, that and a few Miller Genuine's!)

With all that was happening, I didn't get much of a chance to talk with Stormerjip. We would pass each other and comment on how we were doing, him always shooting better than me.

Oh yea, the best part! As my wife can attest, I picked up a CPL at Dick Weber lanes! This chick wouldn't leave me alone, kept following me everywhere according to the wife. The wife even accused me of buying her drinks, which I denied immediately.

I think the wife okayed San Diego next year, if they can put up with me out there.
