What are the perks of becoming a staffer and how do you become one? What average are bowling companies looking for?

From an average standpoint, most staffers around here (chicagoland area) are north of 235+, bowl lots of tournaments, and are affliated with a proshop in some capacity.

A good bowling resume never hurts, but it is more about sales and visibility. If they think you can move product, you have a shot. They want people who are affiliated with pro shops, who bowl lots of events (leagues, tourneys, etc.), and who are good at getting people to notice their products. Again, this isn't to say that staffers aren't normally good bowlers; they usually are. However, you'll also see plenty of staffers who have deals based upon sales, not bowling prowess.

Bingo! I averaged 240 2 years ago and was a free agent. I bought a shop last year and Storm offered me a contract. It's all about having a salesman in every shop to push their products. It does help that they want me to push the best products on the market, making my job easier  8)

You have to show that your are an asset to the company. You have to prove yourself as a bowler or own a shop and they have to see the value in you. Some contracts can cost a decent amount of money (2 of every ball plus bags and shirts for some) so they have to be able to see some sort of return on their investment on you. My biggest thing is earn your way. Bowl everything you can and acquire a respectable bowling resume, be able to stand out in a good way and have people take notice of you.
