USBC wasting $$
« on: May 10, 2009, 01:06:50 PM »
Anyone notice that the Queens and the Clash of Champions was held in Reno?  Okay now did you notice that they used a convention center of some kind to host the show?

Why didn't they just use the stadium?

USBC spent MILLIONS building that thing as the "crown jewel" of the bowling world, now it's being used just like any other bowling center and having the finals shipped off to nearby arenas that can hold more people.

Am I missing the boat here...I couldn't help but think as I watched the shows how much money could have gone to saving our sport if they had held the finals in the stadium.

I got into an argument over this with a couple of women at Nationals one year.  I had brought up that fact stated in quotes above and the reply was something like the more competitive women wanted to bowl against better (higher average) competition and where there was more money to be won, so I said something stupid like, well, why don't they turn the women's tournament into a lower average only (below 170) tournament open to both men and women and that started the argument about how that would not be fair to women because men are stronger then women.  I was trying to say a 160 average is a 160 average, doesn't matter if it is a man or woman, but I got drowned out by them.  Oh, well.

Equal rights...oh wait, no not if it doesn't benefit them!
Do we have a men's only USBC?  How about the PBA?  Women can bowl with the men but men can't bowl in the womens PBA.  Yeah that's fair.

Yeah, if it's SCRATCH, maybe they have a point. Maybe. Handicap, NO WAY!  Just more two-faced BS that passes for "equality" these days.
