Stolen Equipment
« on: November 06, 2018, 11:41:05 AM »
Stay clear of Harrah's Casino in Las Vegas for awhile, or at least don't use the valet!!!

Stayed in Vegas last weekend.  Leisure trip but took two of my balls just get some games in while there.  The only place it could have been lifted is in my trunk while parked at Harrah's Casino valet parking during a 10 hour window.  Lost my Mix, a Hy-Road, half of a Storm 4 ball roller, shoes, and other stuff.

My guess is they hired 1 bad apple who is probably working with a buddy to steal stuff out of trunks while they are parked.  He will go to the well to many times and eventually get caught.  Between now and then there will be a bunch of victims like me.  I filled out a report with Harrah's security and I don't expect to be reimbursed, but it would be nice if they forked over some cash.  I don't want a comp because I won't stay there again, ever.

But before that I did get some bowling in at the Orleans.  Avg about 205 over 9 games on a tricky pair at 1am and half drunk conditions, lol.

I'm going to replace my HyRoad with a Honey Badger today because I got league tomorrow night.  Gonna skip replacing the Mix for awhile and see if I can live without a spare-ball.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Good luck with that “no spare ball” thing. I’m as stubborn as a Missouri jackass, and even I had to finally admit that, under today’s standards, having one is virtually mandatory.

Unless your name is Norm Duke, that is.  :o  ???

You can get a Pyramid Path polyester ball for under $40 shipping included and though I don't use inserts have been amazed with how durable those balls are (2 year warranty didn't realize).  Straight as an arrow.

Thanks for the info.  I already have a Track Spare + sanded at 1k that I used for dry conditions and worked great.  But I haven't had much use for it at all lately.  I'm going to sand it back up and polish it for all spares on the right side of the lane. I should be ok.

Why would anyone steal used bowling equipment?? You pretty much have to give it away to get rid of it.

Tweekers and crack heads will steal anything not locked down to pawn for their drug habit.

I had mine stolen out of my van one night when I forgot to close a sliding door.   The funny part is that my teammate got a call at the bowling alley from someone during league the next night who recognized his name from a league recap sheet I had in the bag.

He said he had bought it for 50 bucks from someone who found the bag on a side street (it was about 2 blocks from my house). He felt guilty about it and couldn't keep it. So whoever stole it from my call, dragged it 2 blocks and then just dumped it.  I paid him 50 bucks (it was worth it for the shoes alone) and got everything back.

Even 10 year later, I get a chuckle about the whole thing.
