Buddy of mine has been crushing the pocket, but just keeps getting no honor scores because of NINE-pins left behind.
In one game I watched him leave three consecutive nine pins, many strikes, and then a ten-pin at the end.
What changes do you make for leaving the nine-pin often?

Smoother reaction, less angle

my buddy tonight, last game, first 7, stupid solid 9, strike 9th, first 10th, another solid 9...... fun and disappointing to watch

Honestly, I'd probably just move left a board or two.

The ball needs SOME deflection. Although too much deflection and you can leave the 8. Ideally the ball splits the 8 & 9 pins leaving the deck.

This is why you should just throw sick Messengers every shot. #manlyrevs

Actually the 5 pin takes out the 8 in a perfect hit and the ball gets the nine. Ball only hits 1-3-5 and 9. Friction from modern balls is so great that the ball doesn't deflect off the 5 into the 9.

I can’t recall any season like last year where I left so many dead solid 9 pins, made me pull out the little hair that I have left on my head. ;D Simply just smh, and move on to the next shot.
