Title: STUPID weather *tantrum*
Post by: L3nn0n on February 25, 2015, 04:39:10 PM
Tonight will be the second week in a row that they have cancelled my favorite bowling league. Out of the three leagues I bowl every week, I've just bowled once! And tomorrow is not looking any better. I hate this stupid weather and I really hate that where I live people can't handle a little snow! Damn it. I guess I'll look for another bowling alley to see if they have their leagues open so I can be a sub  ;D

I can't see why they would do that, from my office window it looks to be a beautiful sunny day.   ;D

At least you have a window Milo... most of my days working are in the dark - I see bones......but you're right, we do have it rough. It's 65*F outside and the sun is just too bright.

I'm coming from Hawaii to South Carolina next month and I am already dreading it. I love my home state but the weather on that side of the country right now is not something that I am a fan of.

Our league secretary worries about slight snow flurries, and asks if we should cancel every time. We tell her no lol. The last time our leagues cancelled was when a tornado killed the power in the whole general area for about 6 hours

I live in good ol' Knoxville, Tennessee! We have like 6 inches of snow and we are 25F right now which means that tomorrow's league is also at risk  >:(

I found a league in other bowling center! A lot of people were absent so I got a team immediately! I got my bowling fix! Lol  8)

I live in WI and over the last two years we've bowled 4 times on nites we were getting 15 inches of snow. Three times this year when it was more than -15. Toughen up!!! :)

My league will probably be cancelled as well. Around 4-7 inches expected in my area. We got more last week (Monday night) but I guess the roads cleared up enough for the league not to cancel last week.

My parents live in North Alabama and have almost a foot of snow on the ground. Usually  1" is enough to shut everything down but a foot is unheard of in that part of the country.

They didn't mention whether or not the bowling leagues cancelled though... :)

I'm in northwest Indiana...tdc ain't lying.  Our league doesn't cancel either ... No offense to 'all the southern cowboy country tough guys with big trucks' that can't drive in 2 inches of snow...the south needs to figure out how to drive in the snow!!

They call us Yankees sissy's lol, O-K

I lived in SE Wisconsin originally and unless there was 12" or more of snow, bowling was never cancelled. Now I live in Wyoming and same here. Unless we have a blizzard and you can't see the road, it's business as usual.

The simple reality is that houses have to consider the liability situation that exists if they DON'T give the league a pass when unusual weather hits areas not accustomed to it.  One lawsuit from an accident or fatality could bankrupt the center even if the case was ultimately dismissed.

Remember that many leagues have members who may be driving an hour or more to get there...and not all of the 'locals' would be on the roads that ARE plowed or sanded.  It is the same sort of reason the State effectively shuts down if we have the slightest bit of sleet here in Texas.

that's not even factoring alcohol sales at the lanes.
