Last night I show up to bowl and am told that Rich changed the shot, made it easier. Well, it was stupid easy. I come out of the gate with 264, have at least 7 boards room (not much outside, but at least 6 on the tug side.) Second game I start /XX/XX/ (weak 10 and 4 pin). Then it happens. My thumb starts to swell due to the humidity in the place; hang in the ball, go high. Remove 1 piece of tape. Hang and go high. Remove second tape. Hang and go high. Remove last tape. Hang and to high - finish with 187. Finally, with no tape left, I can get out of the ball again and finish with 234. I think I'm going to start carrying a cup of ice water to soak my thumb between shots.
I asked Rich how much of a crown he added, on the end of the old flat shot. About 3 1/2 feet was what he said. All hail the crown. I think next week won't be quite so easy.
