Its' Official - We have a High School Bowling Team
« on: October 21, 2013, 02:55:35 PM »
We are at ground level with the High School Bowling Team.

We have to raise money for transportation and bowling fees. There is no funding coming from the School District.

One suggestion that came up, is asking the local bowling community to donate old bowling equipment to the team. We have a lot of kids using house balls right now. Whoever created the BTM XLS sheet, I would like to give you a big  THANK YOU! It is going to help big time.

There were about 30 kids showing up for the first meeting. It looks like we are going to have enough for a boys and girls teams.

We are all green in this so we are looking for ideas, suggestions, reading material, anything that can help us.

Thanks.

Update!

What a first year! Thank you everyone! We made it to the Regionals both boys and girls teams. Girls placed 9th. Great Job! Boys placed ""FIRST!!!!" and play at states this weekend!

This will be a year to remember!

I just started a high school bowling program this year as well.  We had 0 funding from the school and no bus service.  The kids all had to pay $225 for the season and then we had a fund raiser.  It wasn't enough.

Next season we'll be fundraising like mad men and getting things done!

We were very fortunate. The local community helped us a lot (money donations and bowling ball donations were given. There were many kids who didn't have their own ball at the start of the season). It takes a lot of effort by many people. It's not just the kids and coaches. You need to have parents willing to get involved too (Very Important!)

Good luck to you. Hope you get the program started!
