Theres a guy who works 1 day a week at my shop who has the weirdest hand. Finger pitched are like 1 inch away and 1/2 inch left and crap like that. Anyway, all his finger holes are ovaled left and right with a tube sander (not sure what to call it). Anyway, people do it and it works.

I tried the ovals, once. It was different, maybe that's why I didn't like them. I'm used to the lifts and only used them for 3 games, switched them after that. My fingers aren't that 'strange' that ovals were needed, just wanted to try them. I won't go back, but again, I'm used to the lifts and the feel.

I did notice, IMO, that I'd want to go down a size, due to the oval, but again, just my opinion, my feel of the grip.

What kind of problems? Blisters, joint pain? could just be bad lateral pitches in the fingers?

Acetone has the ability to "melt" the rubber grips a little.  Due to my finger pitches, when I install grips, a portion of the insert sticks out of the ball.  I cut it off with a razor blade and smooth the grips using acetone on a rag.  I don't see why one wouldn't be able to "oval" grips in much the same way...  I would try a little acetone on a cloth and rub it on the inside of grip causing the blister.
