My buddy is classic down and in bowler. He uses an Uproar as his main ball but often balls down to a really old Columbia Messenger (the gold one). And I ask because to me it finally has died (he shot 300 with it 2 seasons ago) as his carry with it has become terrible even though he gets it to the pocket so for him the ball down is correct on our house hot.
Looking for the same reaction and length in something made today. Was trying to find a Freeze as I have a one and thought it was very similar but couldn't find a new one in 15 lbs. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

A Brunswick Rhino, Ebonite Turbo/R or Hammer Blue or Cherry Vibe are all potential replacements.
A Messenger pearl, assuming your gold one is actually the gold and black pearl,

did not have the really strong backend that many pearls have today. The above pearls are among the more controllable pearls in that range without being weak.
The 900Global Boost Hybrid is also a candidate, as its coverstock is closest, today, to the Super-Flex coverstock of the Messenger

I have a NIB C300 Apogee with great specs FS.

I think he should just clean it real good, and add a different surface. Those Messengers were reliable as hell! I shot my first 300 with a green one!

The Messengers were great, but no longer available. I'd also suggest the Rhino, as mine does get lots of use for that.

I'd 2nd that. The Super-Flex coverstock is a lot like Brunswick's PK 18 cover: you can't kill them with a 2x4.
I'd seriously recommend sanding it down to 360 grit or even 180 grit, if there are really deep scratches, put it through a professional oil extraction device (most pro shops have at lest one.) and then resurface it properly. It should be about 95% of new.

BTU Pearl. Won't jump off the friction like a low end ball but will still provide the length necessary for camping in the track
