900 Global... what's the relation with Storm?
« on: January 26, 2016, 08:48:29 AM »
It has caught my attention that there is an increasingly high amount of bowlers that are now throwing Global equipment. I also heard that Storm bought 900 Global a little over a year ago. What's the relation between the two brands? Are they running as separate companies? Are 900 Global's balls designed with the same people who design Storm's equipment? Are the coverstocks between Storm and Global now 'similar'? Are Storm Staffers allowed to throw Global and Vice Versa?

I'm under the impression that 900 Global balls are poured in Utah. From what I see with the newer 900G products, especially that Respect ball, they seem to roll similar to Storm/Roto Grip balls.

Roto Grip Magic Gem
Motiv Primal Shock

I asked about this.  Storm and 900G are still 2 separate companies.  Other than financial support I don't know of any other collaboration.  There may be, but I am too low on the totem pole to know for sure.  As Storm reps, we are still not authorized to throw 900G equipment.  That may change in the next couple of years, but that is not the case right now.

Storm bought controlling interest in Globals manufacturing side, due to needing another plant. Global and Storm share factories. High end 3 color balls from Global come out of Utah. Moxie, Respect, etc. It also seems to me that anything without an s or f in front of the name is a cover poured in Utah. Global and Storm are still separate companies.

Tim Mack, Chris Schlemmer, Del Ballard and Jim Callahan all work with the 900 Global staff during the PBA/PWBA tournaments.  It's one other way that Storm is providing support as part of their investment.  It's similar to when Storm had an interest in Dyno-Thane back in the early 2000's before selling their stake to Phil Cardinale.
