Anyone consider throwing a 12-13 lb ball at baby splits?
« on: January 18, 2008, 02:09:17 AM »
I have problems in that I cannot consistently flaten a ball enough to get it to deflect when shooting the 2-7 (lefty).  I hit the ball too hard and I don't have enough time to put into practicing to work on the the problem (so I don't need that suggestion).

I have thought about ordering a 12/13 lb ball specifically for baby splits since my theory is the ball would defect more and my spare % would increase.

And yes, I am one of those bowlers who carries 9 balls with him to every tournament and league so and extra ball is not a problem.

Thoughts?

15lb plastic deflects enough, even if you "hit" it.
As long as you are going cross-lane at it, you are good to go.
It's just a matter of being accurate.

I use 15# balls but my plastic spare ball is 13# (left over from when I had to use lighter weights after back surgery), and I do find that it does deflect more for those type of spares.  No problem trying to convert one or two pin spares and more, except whenever there is a sleeper involved.  You either have to be more accurate for those because of the increased deflection, or use your strike ball.
