Pocket 6 Pin for a righty?
« on: January 02, 2012, 12:55:36 PM »
I watched my teammate tonight leave a pocket 6 pin and he is right handed. How the hell is this possible? My friend is your more than typical league bowler and does not throw the ball with excessive rotation or speed. I knew my team has the worst luck in history but really a pocket 6 pin for a righty?

It's just bad luck...usually on a kind of pulverizing hit where there are pins bouncing.  I've seen it where the 6 hits the 10 and kinda stands back up.

Could have been a bad rack. At this one center where I bowled, I've left a light 6-7-10 with a messenger in front of the 6. The rack was just horrible.

What most likely happened was that the hit was at a bad angle to get the strike.

It is a bad break.  But I think it is a combination of a bad rack and too much entry angle entering the pocket.  I have left several of them and sure I will leave several more.

Probably too much angle to the pocket.  It probably looked good, but the 3 pin was probably thrown to the wall and kicked back to get the 10 pin and miss the 6 pin.  Much the same way that the 6 pin will often wrap around the 10 pin on a ringing 10.

Steep Angle.  I left a 4-6 light with a gray angle years ago.  I've also left 6-10s with resin light and steep entry angle.

^ Me too! Late breaking ball with a steep angle into the pocket does this. I've left a few like this as well..
