I heard the base house was putting down the PBA shots on Tuesday nights. I called to confirm and they were. No signing up, no league, bowl if you want. $1.75 a game.
I had no idea what the pattern was gonna be. I took these balls:
Super Carbide bomb--drilled cg axis, cut with 400 grit sandpaper
Epic battle--55* layout, 4" pin to pap--800 grit
Oracle vision--5 x 3(to mb)--1500 grit
Vapor zone--4" pin to pap, 45* layout--2000 grit
Rampage--5 x 5--oob
Game 1--no warmups. I start with the Battle, trying to play up 13. I double out of the gate, then start sliding thru the breakpoint. I move around and find nothing. 177
Game 2--I decided to try the SCB. I throw it on the battle line and go I high. I move out to 10 board and I have a good look, but I throw the ball pretty bad. 179
Game 3--I finally figure something out. My release gets consistent. I play 10 board. 211
Game 4--The SCB goes high, I try to speed it up but it is really touchy. I move right and left looking for something. I wiff a spare, mis a split, wiff a 10 pin for a nice 170.
Game 5--I said, "self, what if you move in and slow hook the lane?" "well, it can't be worse than 170." Fine, grab the battle, move to 30 board, target 19, easy speed, lots of revolutions. I find carry, area and shoot 227.
Overall, I avg 192. Not great, not terrible. I saw alot of transition I normally don't see. My release wasn't real consistent, so I was alittle off. I had no problem hitting my mark, but I would occasionally give the ball some out angle and that was very bad when I tried to play straight. It is scorable there, but touchy.
Next week, the cheetah.
