skid/flip medium-heavy oil ball?

I have a customer looking for a skid/flip ball for medium heavy oil.  He's a "stroker" with a lower track.  I'm thinking one of the stronger pearls available... maybe a Domination?  Any suggestions?  Open to any brands..

Or possibly an Awesome Revs (or the new Awesome Finish)??

A stroker, who wants skid/flip -- on medium/heavy?!?

Here's one of those things I just don't understand: Why play skid/flip on medium-heavy? When there's that much oil out there, you need breakpoint control more than a cool-looking hook.

I guess the Domination or original Paradigm would be the best bet, but yeez...

I'm inclined to agree. Strokers generally have slower ball speed; so it's harder for them to get that reaction even on medium lanes.

A lot would depend on his ball speed/rev ratio, as to which ball(s) he would be able to use for medium-heavy oil. Then if those balls would enable the right drill (probably a high pin position and long pin-CG distance) to provide a skid/flip reaction.

I am a stroker. I had a Columbia Bigshot drilled tonight with the pin above the ring finger and the cg kicked to the right about 1 inch. Ball was out of box and shot 246, 236,248 clean. The ball is a back end type of ball. I used it on synthetics with a medium heavy type of shot.

I would suggest he gets one before they are gone. My pap is 4 3/4 up 1/4 and speed in the 16 mph area.

bigshot is a good all around ball. strong enough to cover that amount of oil, but if drilled correctly, is extremely angular. if you can find a happy medium between a strong and an angular layout it should be a great choice. same with the tnv.

Scott i have 2 good suggestions for you that will keep him happy for you.

Odyssey box finish drilled pin high 4 1/2 pin to pap and mb 1 inch right and below the thumb, this ball is still aggressive and with the mb placement will still turn over hard on the backend.

Big Shot as already suggested with pin high and cg stacked below with no weight hole at 2000 abralon no polish.

Hi.  Thanks for all of the replies.  I agree with you all 100%!  With his style, pretty much everything is a smooth arc... So its mainly relative to his other equipment.  I think its that house bowler mentality..  I want something to go as long as possibly and hoow as hard as possible on the backend... without actually thinking about if it will be controllable.  The normal league shot he bowls on is medium-heavy oil, so we need something that's going to be able to handle a fair amount of oil.

I hadn't wanted to get into the actual balls until we had discussed whether or how much of a skid/flip the guy would accept, but since someone already started the discussion ...

The Big SHot does seem to be that type of ball.

I suspect balls like the No Mercy, Mean Machine, Awesone Revs, and the Odyssey, with their very strong coverstocks and very strong cores would provide good potential for such a bowler.

These strong covers need 3000 - 4000 grit to get both enough surface to handle oil and fine enough to save up energy to make some kind of veyr strong turn.

I suspect they'd need to be drilled with no more than a 4" pin-PAP (as strokers have few revs), but high, like above the level of the bridge for length and flippiness.

how low revs can make a ball 'flip' ? interesting. Every non-power bowler ask for more length, more 'flip' and more power when they want to buy a new ball in every proshop.

some of my stroker friends don't take my advise and keep asking for that kind of ball, they try every new ball when comes out, finally, they can only get a rollout ball and ugly shot. 5-7 , 5-10, they can get carry when only hit the brooklyn. Crazy !

usually, label 3 3/8, cg better in plam (label), just play on the pin position such as pin above finger middle, IMO, they need hitting power not entry angle.
