BTW, for those who think higher average bowlers are punished by handicap, here's an example that might change your mind. Last week my team (180, 146, 107, 153, 205) shot about 1280 the first game (w/ handicap). Everyone shot 188 or better. Games 2 and 3 we were bad enough to lose total pins (we had about 220 carryover from game one, plus game 2 and 3 handicap). The first 4 bowled terribly (at least 25 pins each under average, usually more). Last person shot their average each game.
So, the "better" team actually won. The lesser team lost, despite handicap. They illustrated why their handicap is based on average and why they need the handicap.
