Thread Gone???
« on: April 20, 2008, 10:23:50 AM »
There was a thread on here about the prospect of certain bowling ball companies going away in the coming years and such.  What happened?  Now it is gone, was there some good flaming and I missed it?  Dag.....

Mike,

I think, you posted the last entry in the thread and since it was started by Star Trak Force III..he had to delete it.

Guess, he didn't like hearing what he heard.....lol.

FYI.....I thought yours and Beans post were right on.

Scott,

I liked what you and Mike had to say. I did not like the premise of the thread at all. I think it verged on anti-bowling; so I just stayed out of it. I'm glad it's gone.

As far as I cam concerned, the more innovative bowling ball companies we have, the happier I am.

There is interest in the "SPORT" of bowling and in the "GAME" of bowling and I hope it stays that way. (Interest in both, that is.)

Another missing thread?  Seems to be happening a lot lately.  Up to the point that I had read it, there wasnt really any flaming going on, just normal arguing and difference of opinions, which is sometimes educational in seeing how other people think.

I agree with Charlest, the more innovative ball companies, the better.  Where would we be today if some small companies had not come out with urethane (Star Trak), the two-piece construction method (Faball), and later the reactive Excaliburs (Nuline)?

So I wonder why that thread was deleted?

Sounds like somebody "in the industry" has a say in what topics get deleted. Seems like anything with "inside info" lately gets deleted. Nothing like some good ole censorship!

There is a 'fix' to this, you know.  Check out the FAQ.

I did not want to cause any problems by suggesting one company lives and one dies. I just remember the 1970's and 1980's very well when we had 5 or 6 manufacturers who put out maybe two or three balls each. Remember the yellow dot was out 20 years or so? How long does a ball stay out now? One of my old favorites (my screen name gives a hint) Star Trak although financially unstable, put out good product and only released 13 models of balls over 15 years.

Today some companies out out 13 models in one month!

I just predict that AMF/900 Global will be the "new" company that will last along with Brunswick, Ebonite/Columbia/Hammer/Track, Storm/Azo, Roto Grip which makes up the "Big 8" I am sure Lane 1 and Morich will have a cult following, and Lanemasters and Visionary will also have a cult following, but it does not surprise me that Banger and Insite are gone and I would bet Elite is next. Most people cannot pay almost $300 for a bowling ball.

In MY reality who gives a dang about Star Trak?  You are living in the 80's... bowling equipment has moved on.

Fess up you deleted the topic.  All the threads that are gone have been deleted by the author IMO.

The topic didn't work out the way you wanted.  Then you move the topic to a tangent that you did not say to start that you wanted to invest in one of these companies and I said it the way I see it ....LM/L and Visionary aren't looking for investors.  Just say it the way it is.  Banger and Insite are maybe available buy them.

In reality any manufacturer etal Brunswick, Ebonite <Col, Track, Hammer> Storm <RotoGrip, AZO>, Global 900 <AMF>, Visionary and LM/L are ALL controlled as they have manufacturing facilities ALL the others  are at the mercy of the mfg that choose to do business with them.  That's the reality Star Trak!
