Title: Thumb IT units

So has anyone bothered to look at the number of ounces that a Thumb It unit takes out of a ball?

Does that mass affect a ball differently like say the old double thumbhole used to?

I'd love to see two of the same balls, same weight, drilled in same layouts and same surface, bowled by Throwbot, and have Spectro track their lines down lane to see if there is a difference when one is drilled regular and the other with the Thumb IT in it.

Good questions.  I avoid buying any used balls that had any type of removable thumb system as I think it would take too much of the core out.

Wouldn't the amount taken out vary by the core type itself (how dense, shape of core) compared to other cores?

I have not seen discernible differences in spin times when switching a ball from a standard drilled solid to an IT of similar dimensions.  If the change in ST is negligible, then that means drilled RGs are not changing much.
