Just wondering if anyone has their bowling balls drilled without thumb slugs? I just recently drilled an old ball to use as a test for a specific lane condition and decided not to use a thumb slug and because I use a lot of tape to get just the right feel I did not seem to notice any ill effects doing this. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hello Jish... I use Thumb slugs and my thumb still feels sloppy.. I've been checking out a product I've seen on the net called Ron C's Majic Carpet.. gets away from using so much tape.. and suppose to give you a cleaner release.. http://www.bowl4fun.com/.. This is where i've seen it.. am going to try it out...

Better than half of my equipment has thumb slugs. The reason being that I buy a lot of used stuff and often just slug the thumb and re-drill the fingers (when possible). I really don't notice any difference between what's slugged and what isn't.

If you have a lot of tape in ball what the heck difference does it make.
The feel is tape!
