Time to simplify
« on: March 07, 2018, 08:30:17 AM »
At the advice of a former PBA champ with 20+ TV appearances, its time to shrink up the arsenal to 5 or 6 and be finished with it.  Take no more than 3 to league and 6 to tourneys, which I already do.

He says lose all the asymmetric stuff, keep a few symmetric solids, a few symmetric pearls and 1 urethane.  I agree.  It's time to face the facts .. if you can't get it done with 6 balls on any shot, you can't get it done period.  Bowing is recreation for me and I want it to stay that way.... simple is more fun.

I see so many guys nowdays come into the local recreational house china with 6 balls and they just confuse themselves. I have been guilty of that years ago also. ...... NO MORE.  My average is up 15 pins since "dumbing" everything down a few years ago and I bowl at a competitive pace in my local challenge league.

I need to get even simpler - thinking the 6 ball arsenal will be:

Marvel-S
Marvel Pearl
SONiQ
iQ Tour Solid
Punch Out
Pitch Black

What do you think?  Has anyone else had a desire to this?

Most bowlers don't practice. Most don't know their equipment.

I take 4-6 to league including plastic.
Tournaments out of town I can take up to 9.

Because of the amount of time spent in practice with my equipment there is no guessing game involved when it comes to knowing my equipment. That makes a huge difference.

The 3 balls that are used 95% of the time are a Warrior Supreme,  Mission Unknown,  and a Rebel pearl. (Not including plastic)  Anything else taken is to cover lighter or heavier conditions as a just in case. Surface being the main focus with all of them.

Have a large arsenal but now only take 2 balls to league.  My Ogre Urethane spare ball and my Hy-Road.  Everything else is for fun and if/when I decide to be more than a THS warrior.

Spot on. It’s the philosophy I mostly follow.

Should be noted that when taking up to 9 out of town for bigger tournaments only 6 (2-3ball totes)  go inside.  The other 3 never leave the car…. If they do there's a good chance it still won't help at that point lol.

I also do the same. I'm taking 8 with me to Reno this weekend. I'll only carry 6 (2-3 ball totes) around the lanes. The other 2 are for extremes I don't expect to see. Still, they'll be a short walk away in the paddock.

I usually take 4 to league and rotate them. Fanatic, Fanatic BTU (polished), Fanatic BTU Pearl, Soul Solid. Tourneys its better for me to take up to 7 just so i have options to satisfy me. Gonna drill 2 Quantum Blacks and a Fire Quantum today so i have a medium-heavier options. I dont like "Super" oilers.
