How many times can you drill a ball?
« on: December 02, 2003, 08:31:38 PM »
I'm trying to build up my arsenal and would like to reduce my costs by buying used - especially since I don't really always know what I'm looking for.  It works for my golf, so why not?  My question is how many times can you plug/redrill a ball before it starts to degrade either performance or the ball itself?  Are you removing core material when drilling a ball?  I would think that after 2 or 3 drillings, the ball starts to become anchor material, especially if you're drilling all over the place...

Nollster--I personally would not consider buying a ball that had been plugged over one time.  --  JohnP

JohnP, are you kidding me??  Some of my best equipment has been drilled multiple times.  I have a couple that are on their 4th drill.  They still hit and carry just as well as a new ball.

Nollster, to answer your question you can drill a ball as many times (I honestly don't think there is a rule against it) as you want.  However, it must still remain legal per the ABC.

I was thinking the same thing.

As long as the static weights are legal & the weight block hasn't been drilled up too badly, you should be good to go.

My Pink Raspberry is on it's 4th drill, it works GREAT. My Red Pearl Hammer is on its SIXTH drill. Still hits like new & is in legal spec.

As long as the plug jobs are decent & the ball weighs in legal Nollster, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

i had a ball with 14 plugs-yes 14
none in track, but all over the place

my teammates use to make fun of it, but stopped with the 2 300's i shot with it and the 834

so my answer
as many you you like, but dont put any in track(which is hard somethimes with these flaring machines)

Dont swing it-if you cant bring it

When in doubt-swing it out
