To those who generally go with one company.....
« on: October 16, 2008, 02:28:29 AM »
What are your reasons for only going with one company?  Also, let's just say that company didn't exist, who would you go with?  I only thought about it because my brother throws stuff from many different companies, and asked me why I only throw Track.

I was kinda shocked to realize that I really only throw Track because the first ball I had was Track.  Kinda silly, but yeah, whatever.  I've thrown other brands, but don't now.

If Track didn't exist, I'd likely with throw Brunswick or possibly Ebonite.  I've always been a long time fan of the Zone series, and I like the Fury series as well.  The same could be said about the NV series.

I've never been a ball whore, but when I returned to bowling in 2000, I found myself being burned on some of the hype about equipment.  I migrated to one particular company only to find myself unable to use them in competition, which then put me back looking for replacement equipment that was registered...

Ultimately, I settled on RotoGrip and liked what I got in the way of product support from the company.  The fact that their equipment matched up for me was a bonus.  For the period of time that I continued to bowl league, I felt that being brand loyal and being able to discuss a company not seeing much use in the league gave me an opportunity to talk up the company and essentially pay RG back for the support I had been offered.

Even now, four years after we lost the PWBA and a few years after I bowled in my last league, I can still call or email and have a productive conversation with Roger.

I've been using Visionary for 2 seasons now. I think what I like about them is they are small. They don't put out a lot of balls in a year so you can think about building an arsenal without the ball you want going out of production before you can get it. You can call and talk to Jason and he will recommend a ball and Betsey is great to deal with.  Saying that I'd probably try 900 global or Roto Grip.

I've been a Loyal Storm Fan since 97, when I picked up a Black Thunder, and loved the ball!  And havent looked back since then.

I've just had really good reactions and results from Storm, I rarely leave 10pins, and get alot of pin action.

i did try out a RotoGrip Fuel for about 2 weeks before it was stolen lol, and really liked it for heavy oil.   But RotoGrip is also made at the same Factory as Storm, so it's basically the same stuff lol.

If I wasnt using Storm, I'd probably go with Columbia.   I'd chop off my hand before i ever use anything that says Brunswick on it lol.

Well, I am a loyal Lane 1 only user due to the best equipment to bowler matchup and the best customer service (with a personal touch like no other tried).

That being said very clear, IF they did not exist, I might consider giving up bowling (not really I just thought I would trhow that out there).  Seriously, I would either try Storm or Ebonite, but good thing I will never have to decide, so I will stay at the home I know and love located at Pickard Drive, in Syracuse, NY.

Early in my bowling career I used equipment from several different companies, never really finding something I really liked.  I finally got a Savage from Ebonite as it was recommended by the pro shop I frequented and it really helped me improve my game. Since then I have pretty much stuck with Ebonite as my first choice when looking for something new.  Since that Savage, I have bought about ten other balls from Ebo (The cost really keeps me from buying more) and they have all done for me what I looked for.

If and when my driller suggests that something other than Ebonite will fit the bill better, I'll take his advice and buy it.
