TOO MANY BOWLING BALLS -- NEED HELP CHOOSING ARSENAL!!!
« on: May 15, 2005, 03:08:46 PM »
There comes a time when one has gone too far and fallen into this loop that is into purchasing bowling balls. I always seem to get one every other week; at least that is what I am told by my friends. I am going to list every bowling ball I currently have...Any advice from everybody out there in cyber space that knows bowling would be very helpful, especially if you are on staff with whatever company; if not, that is fine too, just please help me pick an arsenal. I'm wanting 3 balls and my spare ball...Thanks again!

Bowling Balls I currently possess:

Ebonite XXcel
Track Animal
Track Phenom Unleashed
Columbia 300 Formula
Columbia 300 Ricochet Rebound
Brunswick Intense Inferno
Brunswick Classic Zone
Brunswick Impulse Zone
Storm Hot Rod Hybrid

Based on the drillings you gave and knowing the cover strengths:

XXcel or Unleashed (which ever is more aggressive)
Impulse Zone
Zone Classic
Hot Rod Hybrid

Chose these based on drifferent drill types.  Pin down/weight hole, pin down/no weightt hole, pin up/weight hole, and pin up/no weight hole.  The ball also match-up and fit into each category pretty well.  Experiment with different surface preps and then test your arsenal for any overlap.

Well guys, I've just decided to sell everything excluding my Animal and Phenom Unleashed. Starting with brand new Rule GP2! I should be getting it tomorrow. Will be posting a review on it eventually. Thanks for all your help!

I don't understand what is so funny about that, but anyways...I'm also going to be purchasing a Heat soon, I believe that is going to be a good med to dry lane ball. Anyways, thanks for the help again!

I think there would be too big of a gap between the Phenom Unleashed and Heat.  I would work on putting a ball between there - like an Xception, Arsenal Angular, FAZ, polished Slash.

Nothing is really that funny, you just asked for advice on an arsenal, and then, instead of listening to any of the ideas, decided to keep two balls that overlap (for the most part) and buy a 3rd ball that overlaps those to.

ONe method is one my girfriend developed for me.

I was late coming home one night from bowling.

She took all my bowling balls out to the deck.

Got them rolling and they all rolled in the lake down the enbankment near the lake.  It was right at alligator feeding time so I left them overnight.

The next day about half were the same as their original color!  I kept those!
The rest I tossed back in the lake.

Is that what's called a "Soaker"

Where's that lake now.  There are over 50 bowling balls in my garage.
Give me a break!

I understand there is probably too big of a gap; but, I'm having to save back in order for me to get the right equipment and the Heat is on sale with the pro shop I deal with. Del is coming back in August for another seminar, I'm sure I'll be able to talk with him also. BTW, if anybody has the new X-Ception 5.0, is it out of the box dull or polished? Just wondering, once again thanks for the help, any is greatly appreciated!

Alright guys...hopefully I've put together what could be a great Track Arsenal.
Advice is wanted...and it is very appreciated!

Rule GP2
Animal
Phenom Unleashed
Slash (on order)
Heat (on order)
Spare Ball

For now my Ricochet Rebound is in the slot my Heat is in, I can play very direct with this ball and swing it. Hopefully it will work itself out. Thanks again for any advice guys!

SteveAustin2808: I would recommend something in the middle of all those heavy to medium-heavy oilers (and I think you could get away with just having the GP2 and a Slash in my opinion instead of having the Animal and Phenom Unleashed in there as well...). Look into either a FreakAZoid or the new XCeption 5.0 as there is too big of a gap from the Slash to the Heat (or what sits there now with the Richochet Rebound).

Let us know what you finally decide after all the debating is over.

Animal for oil
Unleashed for mediums
The ball out of those that gets down the lane the best (through burnt heads the easiest)
Spare ball
