Bowling resolutions
« on: January 01, 2015, 09:42:12 AM »
Everyone should have some! What are yours? What do you set out to change in 2015?

Me, #1 with a bullet is surface management. Buying a spinner and going to town with some abrasives and polishes. I'm going to have charlest's posts printed out and hanging on my wall lol.

Mine is just to get out and practice more, and to enjoy myself when I'm bowling. I tend to be way too serious.

Doom, good thread. My resolution deals with bowling manners. I have resolved not to get as upset after missing an easy spare. We will see how long that resolution lasts!!! It has been a number of years since I kicked a chair, so my goal is the elimination of cursing after blowing an easy shot.  :-X

I am pretty much in this same category. I also take the game way too serious, and it has a negative effect. So I am going to try and not let bad brakes, or mistakes effect me mentally. I know it won't be easy, but I will try!

Mine is to get back into tournament shape and be a contender. Right now I can't seem to get out of my own way. I'll be practicing more and joining a sport league after a couple years off

+1 Ball Surface management is #1 for me as well. I already got one on the way  ;D
#2 Is maintaining my bowling proficiency. I just got orders to the Drill Field and I know I won't have as much time to bowl, but maintaining my bowling proficiency and trying to bowl in tournaments as much as possible.
#3 Continuing to help my wife improve her game. Can't get more simpler than that.

Last year was my first year bowling league in 4 years and my goal was to average 205-210. This season my goal was to bump up to the 215-220 range with some more consistency.

I've already bumped up to 216 in our men's league so my resolutions involve maintaining that average and finally getting that 800 series. I had 5 sets in 2014 of 775+

Work on targeting and a more consistent release (can't release the ball the same way twice lately).

As I get older I need to work harder at physical conditioning.  Just had my shoulder reconstructed in 2014, so I need to stay up with the continued rehab, but not stop there.

I really need to get to where I was physically 5 years ago.  This is going to be a challenge, but I feel so much better when I'm getting the cardio workouts that go along with my stretching and weights.  Now I just need to budget the time... ;)

Just wait til you guys start feeling old like me...  Things that used to be effortless are now difficult at times.

This is number 2. I'm a small guy, and need to be rock solid. Legs feel like jelly and hitting the line the same way twice would be nice.

I almost hit part of my resolution first night back. Shot 289 game 3 with a messenger across the deck to miss the 10.

My resolution is to get lessons to get a different perspective on my game than my own and to see what I can improve.
