Bowled a little tournament on Twister pins yesterday.  4 day old Twisters, to be exact.  I've bowled on them before, but I was reminded of a few things.

1) don't hit high flush.  4 pin, 4-9, and even 7-9 leaves were very common on the high flush hit.

2) and don't even think about the 1/2 pocket hit unless you like shooting 10 pins.

3) best strike shot still seemed to be thin in the hole, but on these almost new twisters this was not a guaranteed thing.  Saw a few lillies on this hit.

4) Good grief, but these things sound just awful when you hit them.

Yeah.. we have been struggling with them for the past 2 yrs in one house...  A few weeks back the house took out all of the twisters for cleaning (and replaced with the OLD wood ones) and the leagues during that week period posted the highest scores since the twisters.  They may last longer than traditional pins, but they sure don't carry well.  The only reason the house had bought them in the first place was they had been advertised to be more "lively" than regular pins...

i do remember them at reno for nationals, high flush 4-9s all day for me.  Light hits seemed to work better then anything.
