Ball suggestions
« on: September 26, 2015, 02:22:15 PM »
I'm looking for ball suggestions for a drier house I'm struggling with. At the other places I bowl I start off around 17-18 with my feet 12-13 eyes. The volume lets me use a Hyper Cell or a Covert Revolt at 2500 the whole night. I tried these balls at the center I am having difficulty and it forces me to start around 27-28 feet 17-18 eyes. I thought weaker balls would allow me back to my comfort zone. I've tried the Salute, Hy-road and Takedown but I'm still about 7 boards left with my feet 4 with my eyes. Any less aggressive ball recommendations that could move me back right?

I used my Motiv Ascent Apex for exactly what you described. It has the ability to get down the Lane but still finish well.

I absolutely love the Storm Ride for those conditions.

Rack Attack from Radical. I've been very impressed from this ball. Smooth and predictable.

I suggested quite a few to you on your original thread when you asked about the HyRoad and I said that it probably wouldn't be your answer

Thanks SVstar34 and all the others who replied. I'd already ordered the Hy-road when I asked the original question. You were right. I drilled it the same as my Salute and it made me move farther left. I put in an order for the Ride.

If the static weights allow you could try a P1 balance hole on the HyRoad.  Start small, say 5/8" diameter and 2 3/4" deep, then increase the diameter as needed.  To locate the hole, first measure 6 3/4" from the pin to a spot about 1/2" left (for a rightie) of the grip centerline (near the thumb hole).  This is a "best guess" mass bias.  Draw in your VAL and measure 6 3/4" from the MB to the VAL - that's your P1 location.  Test the ball initially and after each size increase, I've found that P1 holes have a strong impact on ball motion.  --  JohnP

Thanks John p. I think I like the Hy-road as a ball down at the other places I bowl. I'm getting a Storm Ride Thursday. Hopefully this will help me move to the right.

John, what kind of effect do you usually see with a P1 hole?

That's right, it reduces the flare and weakens the reaction.  --  JohnP
