Problem with the 10 pin

Is there some way to drill a plastic ball so it WILL NOT HOOK?  I know I can have it polished before each set which is a temporary fix, but there must be a better way.  What if you get a dry lane ball (not plastic) and drill it for a left hander?  Would it start out hooking and then just straighten out?  (I'm right handed)  I've tried to throw a back-up ball but am not having a lot of luck.  Maybe a urethane ball drilled for a lefty?  Maybe a bigger ball? 

I didn't used to have this problem but for some reason I do now.  Can't make a 10 and am also now having problems with the 6.  Seems like there is very little oil in that right corner. 

Anyway, I could really use some help.

Well you could try a pin in pap drilling but from what I understand with finger holes its possible to get negative flare which is why I usually see it recommended to at least get a 1" pin to pap drilling.  Another way to kill hook for longer is with turtle wax or silicone teflon spray but both of those are no nos for sanctioned leagues or tournaments.

Are you sure it's the ball? How are you attempting to make the 10?

Frankly, no.

The ball is responding to the rotation the bowler puts on it.  As long as you have some side rotation, and the ball finds adequate friction, it will move to some degree.  You need to find a way to rotate the ball end-over-end.  Even a reactive resin ball rolling end-over-end will go straight.

Yeah, there is come to think of it. Don't put your fingers in the ball, just kinda palm it w/ thumb in only. I dare you to hook it!

If all else fails drill a conventional.  However I think there is someting else going on with your delivery.  Do you ever practice shooting the 10 to find out what works

Simply taking a practice outing and spending a couple games shooting only the corners goes a long way to raising your spare percentages (and don't quit because you covered three in a row.)  It's a time to experiment, refined, ingrain, and misses don't count.

Drilling the plastic ball so the dynamic weights inhibit hook is only significant if the plastic ball has a full core (vice pancake).

Now you got me thinking about drilling the Taboo Spare as opposite hand...nah!

Left foot in line with the left gutter.  Target is the 20 board.  Ball tends to hook off just in front of the 10 pin.  Heavy polish helps but needs to be done before every set.

What kind of ball speed do you have.  Most of us can flatten a plastic ball enough to go pretty straight with even medium ball speed.
