Skin Patch - A tip
« on: May 12, 2003, 12:55:32 PM »
I have had problems getting my thumb out of the thumb hole due to swelling and swetting. On advice from a friend I applied some skin patch on the upper side of my thumb joint prior to a tournament this weekend. Problems gone. The Skin Patch gave my thumb the extra little slide that was needed for a clean release.

Also i have found that taking a lighter or your trusty Zippo and lighting the freshly dried skin patch helps to really heat it up and increase the product's ability to bond to skin. But of course only light it for a a second. Don't let it burn too long of course.

If anyone wants to try some HypaFix tape, a medical tape that is real thin, message me with an address and I will send you a sample of it.  I do not sell this, nor work for any company associated with it, I just purchased a 10yd roll that will last me a long time so I am willing to let others try some.

Note to all: The HypaFix tape can be used in place of NuSkin, just do not use a small piece because it could peel off. Apply it lengthwise on the thumb, not around it.

Just finished redrilling 7 balls and inserting thumb molded inserts I make myself. I left one peice of tape in the front and, another peice in the back to locate where additional tape is placed to eliminate the chance of missalignment. The inserts are "keyed" to the centerline of the grip so they are all rotated exactly the same. I use magic carpet in the back (or something that looks similar) and 1 to 2 peices of standard white tape in the front. Viola,,, ALL balls are IDENTICAL. Blindfold me and give me any ball and I cannot tell you which it is! Mission accomplished! I can now switch balls during competition and, have no worries anymore of a different feel, pitch, hole size or any other variable! Love it!

Thanks for the offer of paying, but I am just trying to help out others as I was helped.  Give us your opinion of it so others will have the knowledge to make a decision.  That's what makes this a great website.
