How many 700 series have been bowled at your center?

I doubt you can accurately answer that question.  I ask because I bowled a small tournament last weekend in an 8 lane center that has had, since 1963, only 13 700's bowled in it, and no 300 game.  Did I mention it was not an easy shot?  I went in averaging 216 and didn't shoot 500 for my 3 games.   Pretty amazing on the whole.

There was a house where I lived more than 10 years ago where last I heard I was still the last 300 rolled there.  There are certainly houses that are more difficult than others.  This one sounds more difficult than nationals.

The three houses where I bowl league, I would guess that it would take a exponential number to represent the total 700 series that have been shot. Multiple per night for sure.

Hell, there are probably 10 each night of league in the league I bowl in, and that is just a fun league, although there are some very good bowlers in it. In the center as whole, in it's life....I doubt you can ever get to it.
 
Although not the extreme as the center Rags mentioned. I do remember a center we had in college, it was brand new opened during my sophmore year. While the house shot was easy, it wasn't drop dead easy....the house record for the longest time was only 807, then it went to 814 for a few years.....then the roof collapsed during a extra heavy snowstorm. After they fixed it up and reopened, the house record went to 898....think they changed the shot a little, lol.

Relative to the size and number of bowlers. Not to mention the pins, lanes, and the oil pattern. If it has 8 lanes it isn't much of a center and likely has a low number of league bowlers. That combined with likely old wood lanes and other factors will keep scores low.

It is then a matter of bowling on the shot enough to find a line and a ball to work. Not to mention learning the lanes a bit to find some of the possible flaws due to play and other issues that can affect the lanes over time.

We are a 12 lane center, and usually 5-6 of us shoot a 700 during the season. I had only 4 last year at that house but had back to back day 2 of state. Our shot is good, but the older overlays  make you move quite a bit after each 7 or so frames.  At state on synthetics, I moved 1-2 boards in 6 games, it was nice!

We had 18 thrown just last Friday and 2, high of 794, in a handicap league tonight. We had 6 or 8 more have 685-699 last Friday too. We've also had 6 or 7 800's so far this season. I had one of them w/823.  30 lane center w/ old wood. The shot is a 43ft asymmetrical pattern and is 23.75mL in total volume.

Last year, out of 57,537 3-game series, my home center had 2,286 that were 700 and higher.  This is 4% of all series.  Of that total there were 28 800 series, or .05%, or 1 in every 2055 3-game series.

That seems fair to me.  No?

We bowl in a 8 lane house and the average per year for 700 hundred series is 15 for all of the leagues that bowl and there has only been 2 800 series ever bowled there, the highest being 812.
