R.I.P. Bill Close
« on: April 22, 2008, 06:08:27 AM »
4/11/37 - 4/22/08

My friends grandfather passed away this morning.  I though that it's necessary to write up something here because of him contribution to the bowling community.  Bill Close worked at Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, he still bowled many leagues, he helped coached the Junior Travel League in Toledo, and fully supported his grandson Chad in his first year of adult leagues.
Bill always drove us to bowling tournaments the past couple years.  Waking up at 3am and getting us ready; he was as excited to go as we were.  Bill stuck it out the whole day, everytime, always willing to help.  He loved being around the game, he was with one of my coaches at Bowling Green yesterday talking about bowling this summer and getting some lessons.
Not only will I miss him in all my bowling activities, but the bowling community will miss him as well.
My condolences go to Chad and his family.

While I did not know Mr. Close personally, I am saddened by this loss of another NW Ohio bowler and youth bowling mentor. My sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Close.
