14 vs 13 lb balls

i am seriously thinking of going from 13 to 14lbs would it really be worth doing.  i am 60+ slow speed moderate revs avgd 189 with 13 ultimate inferno and cherry vibe basically a stroker. anyone know somebody who successfully did move up? ball recommendations? core? cover? thanks in advance

I feel the only difference you are going to see is the speed of the ball. You might throw it a little slower due to the heavier weight. Most people seem to move down and generate more ball speed. So I would think that moving up would have the reverse effect.

One advantage in going to 14 is that some of the ball manufacturers do not put the same cores in their 13 and under pounders as in the 14, 15, & 16 pounders.

Some of the high performance balls are not even available in anything less than 14 lbs. I average about the same as you and still use 15 except for a 14 lb. spare ball.

IMHO, a 14 lbs ball will carry better than a 13lbs ball. I've since made the switch up another notch to 15 lbs. Am using a 15 lbs Cell, 14 lbs Shift and a 14 lbs Maxim for spares. Works well for me, although I can get more revs and ball speed with the 14 lbs balls due to obvious reasons (lighter weight). As dicnic mentioned, the cores for 14 lbs and above balls are different for some manufacturers as compared to their 13 lbs and under balls, hence the difference in carry. JMO, though. Hope this helps.

That's a good selling point - "real" bowling life starts only at 14 lbs. at many manufacturers - and if the drilling fits, this extra pound should not be much to worry about.
