300
« on: October 07, 2013, 08:36:40 AM »
I'm actually a little proud of this one.  I just started bowling at this house at the beginning of the league season in a scratch draft leagues with some pretty big local names (including Open Champ. eagle winners, and several former WSU collegiate standouts), it's regarded as one of the tougher houses in the area, and it was the first 300 at this center this season, if that says anything.  The pair we were on is notorious for tricky carrydown, so the set wasn't anything to write home about, but nobody else on the pair did any better, so that's the excuse I'm going with.  Used a Brutal Nightmare, box surface, 65x5x40.  Really threw it well the whole game, I had a couple I wasn't necessarily super happy with, but none that I was worried about.  12th one was the best one.  First time I think I've been able to really focus on the "one shot at a time" thing, but I think that might have been a product of my environment.  I didn't have a crowd, nobody stopped bowling or waved me on if it was their turn, and I wasn't worried about shooting one "for the audience."  #16, and it was a fun one.  Lol thanks for reading the figjam . .
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Way to go. Should have shot my first last night but misread a rack breakdown, and no speed traps, and adjusted early to leave back to back 2 pins, the other 10 perfectly placed and carried

Nice! Why didnt you have an 800 or 900? Didnt adjust or ball up or down when you should have? Do you need lessons in reading the lanes and just throw the hook monster up the boards?/??? J/K...But you know what I'm talking about...lol

Gizmo has shown the intellectual ability to understand ball motion and lane conditions.  I'd venture to say he has a full arsenal (from-top-to bottom) as well.

Look up his USBC I.D.   :P  :-X

As he noted, "it's regarded as one of the tougher houses in the area".......he didn't even shoot it on a REAL (to quote you) pattern.    8)   ;D

Regardless, as noted before, nice shooting Gizmo!

Were you playing them straight up the outside or hooking it?

Lol 12X is a super troll. . I was in the middle, playing about 17-7.  It's still a THS, but it's flatter.  No bumper outside 5, and if you tug it a few its going left, but there's no cliff left to right, it's a smooth transition.  It's a really rewarding shot if you hit where you're aiming, the move on the backend is strong from any angle, it allows you to play relaxed whether you're a stroker or a cranker, you don't feel like you have to force the ball to hook or get down the lane or anything, just gotta focus on making shots.  Across the board it appears to be a 8-10 pin drop in average from what the guys in the league average on "easier" THS's.

Haha, my USBC ID is 5900-1840 . . and I've got a few more figjams if that isn't enough *puffs chest out like a tool*

This sounds a bit like my Thursday night league.  I typically find it tougher (likely the ancient wood plays a part there).  It does force the bowler to become a bit more of a shot maker.  220 is a solid average there whereas on my Wednesday "bank it off the dry" THS is a bit more lax.  2 of the 3 300's I've shot in that house are the ones that stand out most in my mind (namely #1 as far as shot making is concerned).

I won't even get into the breaks I got in the 9th and 10th for the one this season!   :P  :P   :P   :P   :P   :P   :P
