Title: Vise Grips
Post by: thewhiz on May 25, 2017, 04:52:27 PM
Any way to make more room in vise grips.  Maybe by sanding them or some other way of making them bigger.

Sand the gripping hole is one way. Then glue a new pair in.

Rubbing alcohol in the grip like with corner of a towel will loosen up the grip too.

I mean is there a way of making the actual grip bigger without replacing it?

If you mean opening the hole in the grip, just open it like any other hole.

I have wood dowel, I wrap a piece of sandpaper around it. Stick it in the hole and start opening it up.

Vise are the cheapest grips going. Why not just get the proper size to fit you? When were they last replaced?
I definitely would not be opening up the 31/32 hole in the ball & re-gluing in the existing grip either. Get the proper size for your finger NEW!

I agree...

But...My PSO I think got his super old bits sharpened ( it's the only thing I can think of) and my grips feel SUEPR TIGHT now...And we drill...Idk 20 balls a year.

My issue is I bought my own supply of grips as I like a certain kind, which he doesn't typically carry.  (Power ovals)

Long story short....I had him lightly sand the middle finger, like I said lightly...And now it fits much better.

It's the best I could do in that situation.

I just got some new grips too. {oval/power ovals} And it seems the Vise run a little bigger than the pro contours I've used for years. So I have the opposite problem, they are too big! Gonna have to order 1 size down {-1/64} & return the others. Sanding the grip itself to open it up works if ya need a tiny bit of room but I wouldn't open up the ball bigger. That's what I was cautioning against doing.
