Title: Want ball to arc

What ball specs should I look for to get a ball that "arcs" rather than skid, snap? Problem is "spotty" lane condition.

Solid covers, shorts pins/under pingers pin drilling, lower top weight, Low Rg.

Coverstock, more than anything else.  My experience is that the more aggressive a coverstock, the more the ball arcs.

What he said ^.  Coverstock really doesn't mean much IMO if you got the pin above or below the fingers.  I have that drilling and use it for tournaments because it gives a consistent shot no matter what the coverstock looks like (from tacky to covered with oil - it archs slowly into the pocket from 10 board).

lol....wouldn't disagree with Ken but here's why this is not a proven.

Ogre Pearl.....laid out pin over ring CG kicked under pin, 4000ab, high Rg ball, 3 oz starting TW.....my OP's ball motion is an arcing mother.    Very close to an AMF Hei$t and DT Solid Black Vendetta.  So, I'll say it's more the built in characteristics of the ball.

Scott, you do have a point. With that core, it's a good arc'ing piece.

Both of my Twisted Furys are drilled pin under and both of them are very arcing.  I think the pearl goes longer and I switch to it when the heads start breaking down.

The USBowler has or is arriving in the mailboxes now. The ball guide for different companies is neat to look over. Several Companies have the balls designed for the arcing motion. There are a lot of variables, but picking the ball that is designed to arc is a good start.

Second that. Besides, particle additives also smooth outr the ball's reaction, and adding some surface will also tame down the back end reaction, making the ball hook earlier and continuously throughout the lane.

Additionally, besides a pin-under-fingers setup, you can also swing the CG out a bit towards the PAP to smooth out the breakpoint. Or, alternatively, go for a label drilling which shifts the ball's reaction from the back end (which will be rather tame/forward roll) to the mid lane, for an early recovery and an overall reaction that is easy to handle - IMHO very good and no-brainer choice for spotty lanes.
