Same ball different layout and surface
« on: April 30, 2019, 02:12:21 PM »
Have you ever had more than 1 of the same ball, but with a different layout and surface prep?

This came to my mind after watching this video: https://youtu.be/1Q60vr5kW2Y

I was wondering how feasible it would be to head into nationals (or a sport shot league) with an arsenal of the same ball. E.g. I'm imaging here that a pure Phaze II arsenal with different layouts and surface preps would cover a wide spectrum of lane conditions.

Layouts alone are not enough to warrant significant difference in ball reactions.  Surface is the BIGGEST factor in ball reaction.  When using 2 balls of the same type, having the same layout with different surfaces will give you more versatility than same surface with different layout.

Combining the 2 will give you most bang for buck.  If you like a ball but would like it to push further, polish it and drill it for length.  I did this with 2 Physix and got exactly what I wanted.
