Hammer Coverstocks
« on: May 05, 2008, 02:22:08 AM »
Hello all, just wanted to see if anyone is having any issues with hammer balls, specifically any of the black widows dying?  Do the coverstocks last a long time or not?

From my personal expierence:

The BWP seems to have a longer lifespan than the BWB.

My father has a BWP for about 3 months now with about 100 games on it, and it still reacts the same as the 1st day.
Wish I could say the same about my BWB with only about 40 games on it, and big reaction change since day 1.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a good ball, but not the oiler it was the first 20 games.

(We both take very good care of the bowlingballs, and play about same line/style)

I have over 150 games on my BWS and have experienced some loss in reaction but by giving it a hot water bath (soaking ball in hot water and dawn dish detergent for 15 minutes taking it out and wiping down with rubbing alcohol and repeating until oil stop coming out of coverstock) I have been able to revive it and bring it back to OOB performance.  It has been a very good ball in my arsenal but as with alot of the new soaker coverstocks today requires maintenance, cleaning ball after bowling and an occasional water bath every 40-70 games.  I hope this helps.
