Title: What ball would be the best.
Post by: djgook on August 01, 2018, 01:13:54 PM
Hello Bowling Family!
I am getting ready for the fall season and I am going to do this League called the NFL League. I have been watching this league for a couple of years now. I have been told that shot is EXTRA Flooded. I have seen the Gauntlet,Scandal,Cash,More Cash,Pitbull all go straight on this shot. I seen people week by week get frustrated(first game)that there ball was not hooking playing down and in or even swinging it. Ican play all over but my preference is to swing as I am a two hander
I have been looking at the RIPD solid, but then I second guess myself and say that all bowling balls need some type of friction.
Please help me.

If there is a lot of oil and/or it's a longer pattern you have to move your breakpoint closer to the headpin.

A lot of people get frustrated because the old thought process was move outside to get more dry. That's not always the case and for me is rarely the case.

Your BW Gold could be a decent option. If the pattern is longer there is not as much dry so a ball that responds quickly to friction can be a very good option. If you really want a big ball for oil, I wouldn't hesitate to go for the RipD Solid

If they’re that flooded then any of the top of the line for each brand is where I would start. If you have a brand preference I’d lean that way
Sure lock
Halo
Ripd solid
Scandal /s
Paradox Black

You don't mention the length of the oil pattern.
If it is a long pattern, throw something that responds quickly to the dry at end of pattern.  The ball should slow down sufficiently so as not to blow past the breakpoint but still have enough energy at end of pattern to go through the pins without deflection.

Personally, knowing the characteristics of the ball, I'd like to use a Continuum with not a lot of surface and a small val angle. Something like 50*5*30 or even less on that second angle. Let the strong intermediate diff help it stand up in the middle of the lane and the cover and small angle to respond to friction. Depending on pattern length, keep your breakpoint as close to the headpin as possible.

Flooded is not a good description of the oil pattern at all. What is the length of the pattern? Ratio? Maybe those strong balls aren't hooking because they are burning up rather than seeing a flood. Could be a longer pattern but not enough volume for those heavier oil balls. Also, down and in from what zone?

Your sig line shows an IQ Tour, put some surface on it and keep your angles tight and you will be fine.

I always like Milo's responses!! LOL!!

He seems to be a lot like me......keep it simple!

Tight angles and use a skid/flip ball, depending on your speed of delivery, and you should be good!
