That is the serial number of the ball.

It's used by the ABC & other organizations to verify legality when an honor score is shot.

Also, Many times you can tell what production lot the ball is from by the serial number. IMHO The best example of this is the various lots of Columbia yellow dots over the years & how various serial numbers were more sought after than others due to abnormal hardness/softness in the shell. The infamous "Bleeders" come to mind.

Yes they are the serial number of the ball. Each ball for a manufacture has a unique number assigned as it is made.

For Brunswick it is a code. If you know the code you can tell when the ball was made and what batch it was in.

Columbia, Track and the old FABALL hammers (I don't know about the new ones)have the year of manufacture as the either the first digit or first two digits.

I'm sure others do the same. Ebonite, Storm, etc.

I'm sure there is some meaning to the rest of the numbers but I don't know the codes.

The number indicates the number of pins a ball will knock down before self-destruction.  You have a low number, so be very careful how and when you use your ball.

Storm's serial numbers are ridiculous.  Brunswick and Lane 1 are both 7 digits, Storm is something like 15.  And at tournaments where you have to record the model and make of every ball you have along with the serial numbers, you just want to leave the Storms at home sometimes.

KFH, I cannot speak to every tourney, but many are satisfied with the ball and last four digits being listed.

Lol, not the tournaments I went to, and they were only youth tournaments at that!  However, they were highly competitive, and we had a pretty good amount of awesome college bowlers bowl them.  Sean Rash used to bowl them before he turned adult, and Olivia Sandham (the FEMALE national youth champion) would compete on the girls side as well.  So yeah, national champions and their teammates who finished in the top 50 nationally bowled these tournaments.  Lotta fun!

Woah, with a serial number that says BRA in it, he either needs to throw it like a girl, or will be getting a high CPL avg with it.
