« on: April 29, 2012, 02:58:32 PM »
Will be there in June for a week. Anyone bowl(d) here and where are the good houses located? Did a search and found about ten houses. Thanks much. Jim

I personally prefer Santa Ana Starlight Lanes located upstairs inside: www.santaanastar.com casino.  It is where I bowl leagues twice a week for the last few years plus it's only 2 miles from my house.  Next I would say try bowling at Isleta Funn Connection, south of albuquerque on I-25 to the Hard Rock Casino(it is located on the perimeter of the casino/hotel).  It has a quirky design, 12 lanes left of desk, bar and billiards area and 12 on the other side, thing is they are staggered(1-2 are furthest back, then 3-4 are further up and so on, with a fence type barrier dividing pairs.  It's odd at first, especially if you swing you trailing leg out when shooting 10-pins, you'll smack it with your trailing foot everytime!  It has Laser Tag along the lane 1 and a video game arcade along lane 24.

Other then that, all the local centers are older/established centers which have been around awhile.  Leisure bowl is pretty high scoring(bowled a tourney there this weekend, fired a 300 and 746 Singles and 758 Doubles, Team 656 and 2160 All Events.  Silva's Eu-Can Bowl can be high scoring and shot is pretty much up gutter on either side.  Holiday is ok, I dont bowl there much but have heard good things, it is located directly across the street from Leisure Bowl.  Lucky 66 Bowling Center is another center, located in the North Valley, but I havent bowled there in 20+ years so I can't say anything about it.  Sandia is in the northeast heights area of town, but last I heard that are not a sanctioned house.

There were two bowling centers in Santa Fe, NM but they closed over the past few years.  There are two centers located due north of Santa Fe, one at the Camel Rock Casino and one a further north of that in Espanola, NM at the Santa Claran hotel casino called Big Rock Lanes.  There were also a couple of centers located south of albuquerque, which also closed in recent years.

There has been a rumor lately that Sandia Indian Casino(the largest in the area) was planning to add a bowling center in the future), it is the largest hotel/casino in the immeditate area.

Thank you Pat for the report. I appreciate that you went into detail about the bowling establishments in the area. Know I'll give a few of them some business. Maybe Santa Fe area too. Best Regards. Jim

No problem, let me know if you need any more info.  I've got some bowling coupons for some of the centers I could get to you when you arrive if you want.

Duh, I forgot to mention "10 Pins and More" in Rio Rancho, NM, I drive by there every day to work.  This center has been around awhile too, haven't bowled there since last february, I here good scores coming out of there.  It is owned by PWBA bowler Dana Miller-Mackie and her husband Steve Mackie.  Her brother PBA bowler, Mike Miller runs the Pro-Shop there.  It is a 24-Lane wood lane house with a really nice bar area.

Wood lanes eh? Cool. I can't remember the last time I bowled on wood lanes. Has been awhile. Only one bowling alley within 60 miles (20 miles) of where I live so I'm sorta limited unless I'm traveling. I do believe I've seen an advertisement for a tournament for 10 pins and More (Rio Rancho triggered my memory) over here in an alley that I've bowled @ about 65 miles from my homestead. Thanks for the update.
