Suggestions for speeding up healing of fngers
« on: July 24, 2016, 10:36:27 PM »
I am sure all of us have, at one point or another, tore off the topmost layer of skin on the side of a finger.  It rarely happens for me but did recently.
When I was younger, I remember someone saying you could speed up the healing by breaking open a Vitamin E capsule and slathering the contents over the finger.
Any other ideas for speeding up the growth of the new skin?

Neosporin and cover it with a band-aid is the quickest way I know of to heal such skin damage. It kills the bacteria that delays the body's natural healing.

Vitamin E is great over burns and similar skin problems to promote healing.

The next step down is hand cream with both Vitamin E and Aloe.

Get marathon Liquid skin Protectant..can be pricey depending on where you get it--I have found a few ebay deals in the past on it....but it works great on the fingers for bowling purposes...check it out, soo worth it.

after bowling for 50 years with everything that you can imagine, it blows my mind that people get blisters, lose skin, and various other injuries from bowling.  I've never had so much as a an irritation.   Must be some real butchers fitting balls out there.

Not everyone starts out with the hands of a brick layer. :)

this may sound crazy but it has worked for me for years.  hollow out a raw potatoe stick your finger in it it may sting at first but that is normal.  rotate the spud every so often for fresher area.  something about the starch helps heel the area and I have been bowing for 40 years this works best for me.

I didn't read where the OP injured his finger bowling.  Maybe he scraped it somehow else, but it will obviously affect his bowling.
