What is the best means of enlarging your finger grips.

I have some golden ovals that i need to enlarge the
openings just a little. Is there any type of solution
on the market i can use. I don't what to hack away
with a knife.
Any help is appreciated.

you can try using some drywall screening cut into strips that fit inside the grips. Dip the strip in acetone and use it on the back side of the inside of the grip. The acetone will help the screening strip away some the grip and acetone on a rag will smooth it out.

you also could use a small round metal file usually used for woodworking, if thats available to you

Would acetone on a rag rubbed in small amounts eat the rubber back? My pro-shop guy used it once on my urethane thumb hole to smooth it out a little (but it was texture change, not necessarily size).

I use a small flat screwdriver with a 1/4" wide tip to remove grips, then I use a bevel knife to enlarge holes and then reglue grips with super glue gel. Gluing all the way around the grip isn't necessary. Just one drop on each side is all that is required. Normally beveling on each side of the finger hole and not the front and back also is all that is necessary.

I got this cheap little advertising knife that the blade folds back into the handle that I use to take inserts out. I got it off the bingo supplies salesman when I used to run the bingo at the local firehouse. for a basic piece of crap nickel knife it has held up to digging grips out for at least six years.
the blade is thick and not real flexible but it is only 1/4 inch wide work perfect.
As far as the tight grips are concerned I just ask the driller to sand the holes again until they fit......(before you put grips in)

Acetone would be the answer to open them up a hair.  Just drop some on a rag and rub them inside the holes until they fit.

$5 each, total $10 for two at the pro shops where I live. Cheaper to enlarge the holes yourself for free.

To you guys suggesting acetone, I've never tried that before. I'll have to try that. I do know that with acetone that you have to be  careful or you will melt the grips, so I have been told anyhow.

First of all, make sure that the pilot holes are the proper size so that the inserts that you use feel the same in the ball as they feel by themselves; I speak from experience because I use 10th Frame inserts and the pilot holes were different for them that my previous inserts. Then, if they are a bit too tight, your pro shop will, if asked, sand them out for you to get that right fit.
 BTW, I have used a product called Bowlers Ultimate Grip adjusters by MiloSports at http://milosports.com/; they are 1/64" shims that you can slide in and out of the space at the top of your inserts ... they come with an insertion/removal tool for ease handling and they have worked very well for me since my fingers seem to vary in size depending upon the weather, my weight, and other variables.
 Lastly, the retractable craft knife that was mentioned a few threads ago has worked well for me too to fine-tuned my fit.

This method works well! It dosent work quickly but, if you just need to move up the size a hair, it is the right trick to use.

Thanks to all that have replied to my post.
I have ten grips of same size that need to
be enlarged, that is why i don't want to buy
new ones of correct size.
I'm trying the vise insert system but without
the metal sleeve in the bottom. I just have
the top half of the hole enlarged a little
bit so the grips will spread a bit.
So i ordered grips two sizes smaller than my
normal size. But for some reason the grips for
my ring finger or a little to tight so i needed
to enlarge them just a hair. Just thought i would
let you know the reason for my post.

Use acetone on a thin cloth, like an old undershirt. Put your pinky into the lightly soaked cloth and rub the rear of the inside of the insert. You'll find it clean the insert and the cloth will rub the color of the insert off. Does this a few times and check your finger in the hole. Then do it a couple of times more.

FYI acetone is a great way to clean up dirty finger and thumb inserts. You just need a small amount.

QUarts of acetone are sold in metal cans for $4.50 - $5.00 in Home Depot and Lowe's and most larger hardware stores like Ace.
