All of you guys who tire of those looking for hook out of the box, take a zanex and sit out on this one. :o 8)
In terms of cover strength, RG, and differential, what is the biggest hooking ball heavy oil ball on the market.
I had a very good bowler ask me this question today, and I had to pause to answer it. I told him that my first guess would be the Nexxus. He told me he thought the Defiant may be stronger.

Since no one has each of the biggest hooking balls from each manufacture on the same drill pattern what honest answer do you expect?
Pick any big oil ball from any manufacture and they will likely be within a few boards of each other. Since he is a good bowler a few boards won't matter.
Seriously, go ahead right now, you and the good bowler, and start drilling them up and tell us. If you make it through most of them and there is one on heavy oil that is easily that much stronger then all the rest please let us know.

Ive had them all the Nexxus,Defiant,Dark Encounter,Hell Raiser Revenge, I shot a 800 with both th Nexxus and Defiant. But if i have pick i go Nexxus,Defiant than Hell Raiser Revenge

You should be asking what is the hardest hitting ball on heavy oil.
The problem is that an elementary understanding of physics says you can't get a ball to hook on heavy oil unless there is so much surface friction on the ball that it will roll out by the time it gets to the drier back end. I have found that the hardest hitting balls on heavy oil are often pearl balls that you can get to roll as soon as they hit the dry. Not much hook but they hit harder than a dull abrasive ball that burns as soon as it hits the dry.
Remember the slickest lanes still have 15 feet of dry on the back end. As an old guy with low revs, there is nothing that makes me lick my chops more than going against a young gun with high revs and lots of axis rotation on a long slick pattern.

Sorry, but, for my 2 cents: just more horse hockey pucks!
Any inherently strong ball can be made to hook earlier and more (than most others) if you take the surface down to 500 grit and you use a very low pin position with a very low VAL Angle AND a very low Drill Angle.
(FYI 500 grit is INSANELY rough!!)
The OMG, Defiant, Nexxus, Hell Raiser Revenge, Destroyer, Slant Solid are among the strongest. There is no ONE strongest.
And, worst of all, next week there will be one that SEEMS stronger & earlier than all the rest!!!!

As charlest said, there is no one strongest ball. However, there are a ton of really strong balls on the market.
Storm: Virtual Gravity Nano, VG Nano Pearl, Vivid
Roto Grip: Defiant, Defiant Edge, Critical Theory
900 Global: Freight Train, Bank Roll
AMF: OMG!, Green Mamba
Track: 912T, 716T
Ebonite: Pursuit, Pursuit-S, Mission X
Hammer: Taboo (solid and pearl)
Lane #1: Droid, Droid Pearl
Columbia 300: Wicked Encounter, Dark Encounter
Brunswick: Nexxxus solid, Nexxxus pearl (the triple x is stronger than the double x)
DV8: Hell Raiser Terror, Hell Raiser Revenge, Hell Raiser
Motiv: Raptor P7, 2 Cruel
MoRich: DestroyR, HookR, LocoMotion

According to Bowlers Journal International the DV8 Hell Raiser Revenge is the biggest hooking ball they have yet tested. That may change here in the very near future. Especially when the Hell Raiser Terror reaches their address.

So, are you saying that a strong pearl will hit harder than a dull solid, especially on a shorter slick pattern. Makes sense although that was not the question I was asked.

I have the Nexxus and Hellraiser Revenge drilled the same way. The Hellraiser Revenge is quite a bit stronger for me.

Is your question For Righty oil? (Gets a dry spot by the end of the first game, Don't have to point any more).?
Or lefty heavy oil?(gets a dry spot by the end of the 7th game bowled by a lefty, have to point all day!).
For righty heavy oil(league shot) strongest I have still every seen is the Columbia Reaction Roll! For a league super wet crown still the strongest ever.
For a a pure flat no friction 50 foot shot where one must point all day, Never better Track Spell! Balls that have low rg and force you to belly away from the pocket do not work on lefty heavy oil(no friction except back of lane).

Of today's balls for heavy oil,,,,The Ebonite Mission X is tough to beat!
Brunwick Nexxus looks real sweet also.

PS I think for league slick crowns with dry to the side there are many great ones by most companies as listed by Tommy Boy.
PPS On heavy long flat oil like Avabob(I point) I have also used the pearls to very good effect the Battle Zone Bullet was a killer for me along with the above mentioned track Spell. (higher rg for both balls took out the belly(midlane) that kills a bowler on Flat heavy oil).

If you're playing straighter, I love my Train. I played the out of bounds last week on a 40 foot Kegel pattern, and it killed. If you're wanting to swing it a little more, I would go with a Bank Roll or Green Mamba (Take the finish down to 2000).

I would say ebonite 3.0 but it's only released for the Japanese (long and light to medium volumes) and Korean (long and heavy) markets.
Saw a guy use it, med revs only, but he was laying it down in ten 12th board out to the OB area. Ball came back, hooked and carried. No one else was able to play outside of 5 that night. Lefty.
