-You'd better come with it because everytime I step on that approach I bowl to strike and I bowl to win. I don't believe in intimidation, I don't believe in fear, I believe in one pharse Win or go Home and  that It don't mean a thing if it aint got that swing!Because no matter what its still 60 feet to the head pin no matter where you are. The ball and its properties are probably more important than the drilling itself.  Although a bad drilling can make a good ball roll like pooh.  But I'm not so sure if a good drilling can make a bad ball roll great.

Many bowlers, like Norm Duke, have only one or two layouts... period.

Taken from the Dyno-thane website (archived) when he won the Cambridge Credit Classic in Dec '02 with a Dyno-thane Vendetta Particle:

quote:
"Pin-in ball with the pin placed under the ring finger. The CG is kicked out to about 1/2" on the positive side."

This allows Norm to le the ball do what the ball was designed to do.  If he needs a different reaction, he switches balls.  Too common I see bowlers taking a high performance heavy oiler and try to drill the guts out of it and use it on conditions it was never meant for.

(Yes, I used to be guilty of that, too)

Just my thoughts.

On Edit: He used the Element during qualifying.

The ball....

No matter how you drill a plastic ball it will never be a good oil ball.

The balls coverstock and cover prep are the biggest factors.
