A Columbia Light Dot.  There was no real dot. Just words.  Like 8 lbs and blue sparkly. I remember getting it drilled and being very angry because the finger holes went through some of the label lol.

After many years of bowling with a HOUSE BALL .. my wife was tired of me paying .25 (I think) for RENTAL SHOES and bought me a BALL/SHOES and BAG. Don't remember the company but it was the only GREEN ball around .. everything else was BLACK. Think I used it for about 7 years! My guess is a COLUMBIA .. but I wouldn't SWEAR TO IT!

My first ball was a purple Columbia 300 White Dot (11 pounds), bought in 1972.  I hardly ever used it, because I preferred one particular house ball (rubber, shot my first 600 with it).

My first ball was a 15 lb black house ball at the University Rec Center.  Then I decided to "go pro" and grabbed my dad's green Galaxy 300.  It was drilled right-handed, which crimped my left-handed approach.  I threw a backup ball and threw my first 200 with that ball - a 214.

The first ball I ever bought myself was a 14 lb Columbia Black Knight which the ball return at the rec center ate - literally.  The rec center replaced the ball and the original went up in flames after being tossed on a brush fire.  (did you know that bowling balls burn with a very thick, inky cloak of smoke as a result?  I do.)

I again decided to "go pro" and bought a 15 lb Columbia Black U-Dot.  Shot my first 250 with that one - a 256.  I was the man with that ball until I took a few years off and came back to find that there was this new stuff called "reactive urethane" and "resin".  Made my equipment look archaic at best.

I still have both the replacement Black Knight and the U-Dot in addition to the half-dozen or so balls I occasionally use when I travel.

It was a 10lb. Brunswick hard rubber ball from Kmart.  Don't remember the name, but it had cheap looking yellow lettering.  Had 2 of them - they kept cracking for some reason.  I think within a couple of months I got rid of those and bought a 12lb LT-48.  The cork in the middle was torture for me!  I'd sweat a little, the cork would then proceed to blister my thumb, then peel the blister off my thumb.  After those first 2 experiences, I'm surprised I didn't just give up on the game!  (I'd have saved a lot of $ and aggravation if I had).

A 12# Cherry Red Lucky Strike(not the cigarette).  I think it's still at Castaway's in Hegewisch, Illinois.  Or, it's attached to 30 feet of rope in somebody's boat.
