What would are world be like without the USBC?
« on: August 17, 2013, 10:11:35 AM »
After reading lately about awards and other USBC news, I was wondering what you all think.
Would someone (Kegal) pick up the National Tournaments, ball specs, lane requirements, etc.??
Would the BPAA handle local associations or form new group within their organization?
If the USBC was to disappear because of lack of funds, what are going to be our options, if any.
Thanks

No national database for averages.  Would have to submit league sheets to every tournament like back in the day.  Tournament directors would go crazy trying to determine if someone submitted league sheets for every league they bowl in.  The baggers would enjoy that environment.

Well, I don't know what "are" world would be like, but OUR world would be much better. USBC is destroying bowling more and more every day and they're a complete waste of money.

That just sounds ridiculous. I could understand your argument if we were still living in the 80's or early 90's, but it's 2013 and literally EVERYTHING is run by computers. Technology is everywhere, everyone has access to the internet etc. If USBC dies (here's hoping) and Kegel or TNBA or some new organization were to become the national association, it would be very easy to set up a website with a database and list the averages of every bowler in the entire national association, based on location the same way USBC does now.

We're not living in the stone age. Technology and the ability to track averages and other statistics online wouldn't go away just because USBC no longer exists. The database will always be there, and I'm sure it would be available for purchase if USBC were to go under.

Now I think some organization would fill the void, but would it be better? Thats anybodies guess.

Sure, another organization could pick up the function, but how long until the new system is actually usable by tournament directors.  Yes, we live in technological wonder age, however, being an IT professional, it takes time to develop and debug any database application.

Back to square one. What it needs is people who cared about the sport of bowling who been around the sport inside and out. What we got is too many figure heads at USBC deciding what is what with out looking at what need to be done and better the sport. Need a group of people from men and ladies to look at awards and other aspect of the game instead of putting in a solution that may not work at all. If I was president of USBC I get all who is involved and cut the pork belly nonsense out and make it better running with out the crap. By looking at all aspect of the sport and to better the sport to like it was then.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

You guys forget the two basic things the USBC supplies.  Everything else is superfluous and rather meaningless, better left for cackling hens to cluck about.  The USBC establishes rules and equipment guidelines and specs, and they bond league funds.  Goddammit, when will you people quit bitching about bowling so much?  Find another sport if this one is just too screwed up for you.
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.

We'll all likely find out what life will be without the USBC, because the national governing body will be fortunate to be a viable entity four years from now.

We post our leagues on League Secretary, so our bowlers can see league stats and bowler stats! So we have some form of data base already without USBC! How many tournaments do people bowl in already that's not sanctioned? I bowl in several that are ran very well without any problems, and yes we do still follow USBC rules! I remember when the Hoinke in Cincinnati did their own awards, cause ABC at the time didn't want to sanction the almost year round tournament!

I'll bet that even though USBC is cutting back on a lot of things, they aren't cutting back on their fat salaries.

Long Gone Daddy, you complain about others bitching and yet that is just about all you do on these boards.
