Sarge Easter finger problems
« on: April 28, 2012, 12:29:29 PM »
I just had my Reign Supreme sarge eastered just to try it. I really like the grip, but after 5 games, my ring finger's 2nd knuckle starts hurting.
Do you think I should have the hole beveled for comfort or should the hole's position be changed? I appreciate the help.

When i used SE i liked a lot of bevel on the ring finger. I also had about two pieces of tape to make a nice snug fit. Just me personally ....

The ring finger span should be regular conventionalDid you use Brunsnick's pitch recommendation (see link below)?  --  JohnP

I am not a ball driller, but I do use the sarge-easter grip.  The most important thing it seemed for me was to ensure the convential finger length was short enough to prevent me from trying to grip with my finger.  My first attempt was too long and I had finger pains at the second joint.  Just make sure the span on the ring finger is short enough and pitched so you don't try to grip it with that finger.

On a side note, I also put finger protection tape on my ring finger because I started to develop a bit of a callous on the outside edge of my finger nail.  My next drilling will pitch the ring finger to the right a little more to try and match the way it sits in the hole.  For me, when I am in the sarge-easter grip, my fingers sit with more right pitch than with a normal grip.

I just recently went to SE grip on JUST my spare ball.  I had wrist surgery a few years back and can't "break" my wrist for spares.  It does help and at first had the same problem with the ring finger.  Once I beveled it, that seemed to help.  I also have my ring finger pitched 7/16 reverse.  Whats the pitches in yours?
