I did it again...
« on: March 18, 2008, 05:35:20 AM »
Call it Stubbornness, ball working great, thinking I could make the right moves with this ball, who knows but I missed another 700 series with a starting game of 290.

The Resurgence was working great.  Started the first frame a little light in the pocket leaving the 7 pin.  The next 10 were in the pocket with every ball hitting a little higher and higher in the pocket.  11th ball I tugged a little and it went thru the nose, the 6,10 were standing until a pin came rolling from the left side and took the 6 out then the 10 for 11 in a row.

I made a little adjustment to start the 2nd game but the ball went real high almost going brooklyn.  Made an even bigger adjustment but still went thru the nose and had a couple splits.  Finally adjusted enough and strung a few but then it began driving a little too much towards the end of the 2nd game.  Ended with 206.  I should have known to change balls to a less aggressive one due to about 7 bowlers playing where I was trying to play the 2nd and 3rd game.

3rd game I kept moving left but I was not very consistant, I swung a little too far trying to avoid going thru the nose but then i would go too far out and would wash out or I would not swing far enough, anyway, I finished the last game with 195.

I have my TNV that goes longer that I have practiced with so after the Resurgence is hooking too much I go to it.  But for some dumb reason I didn't.  I guess because I tend to leave a few 10 pins with it and thought I could make the Resurgence work.

Next week...ball change after my starting ball starts driving too much.

Do you try making ay other adjustments other than moving left. A lot of times, and I'm not saying this is what you did, when people move left they begin to hit the ball harder which defeats the purpose. Did you try squeezing the line or throwing with a little more speed? Or did you try to break your wrist a bit or change the angle. When this happens to me First I move left but I hit it more out of habbit so what I do is straighten my wrist. (I start out bent to the left (righty)) My 2 Cents.

Sounds more like your release changed as you moved left, or you didn't move your target left enough to go along with your feet.

Thanks for the inputs.  Seems lately my adjustments have not been working all that well, I either don't adjust enough or fast enough. Or when I "cup" my wrist less it doesn't hook as much or starts leaving the 10 pin or i slow it up too much and it bites too early and goes thru the nose.

I have made up my mind to change balls next week.  I will try to keep the same speed, rotation, mark and hopefully not have to make as drastic changes.  I'll see how it works.  If it's not all that successful then I will work harder to read the lane changes, make better adjustments and "trust" myself to move more than what I have been doing.
