Which coverstocks seem to be long lasting?
« on: May 25, 2006, 08:58:28 AM »
I'm curious as to which company's coverstocks and which coverstock model seems to be long lasting, with regular cleaning of course.  There's been some comments about Ebonite's covers on the One and the Big One not holding up, along with some of the Storm balls.  Wanted to try the Big One, but now I'm a little nervous about buying a future paperweight.  The Dynothane Soaker coverstocks seem to get a good report.  Any others?

people say Particle balls die out faster thats not the case for me my raging inferno with Activator particle cover is over 500 games on it and it still rolls strong. I also do not cleans it regularly

Some of the older particle covers with very soft particles did die relatively quickly.  And resurfacing would just kill 'em faster, because the particles get worn smooth by the sanding.  Most manufacturers use harder particles now to avoid that problem.

Additionally, "most" particle balls are for the heavier side of medium up to heavy oil.  Heavy oil balls tend to soak up oil quickly because there's lots of oil to soak up.  That can contribute to a shorter lifespan.

I think if you are serious about your maintenance on your ball, it shouldn't be that big of a problem.
