Is this bad?
« on: January 19, 2004, 09:45:22 PM »
I was reading jeffs post about his wearing a brace to learn, and I was thinking about how my release works, and I noticed that when I start my backswing, I dont go straight back. First I twist my wrist and the ball in facing my hip, and start to swing back, as Im going back my hand twists farther so that Im actually holding the ball backwards. When I get to the top of my backswing, I turn my wrist back around, and continue down. Is this bad? I have tried going straight back, but I lose all control and end up tossing the ball every which way. I even dropped it on the approach once. Should I stick with my backwards hand motion, is it going to hurt me or my game in the long run?

But the thing is I can be consistent more so with the figure 8 then the penelum, I am very consistent because I have the EXACT same arm motion everytime, and my arm is in the same place everytime. I was just curious as to if it would cause problems for me such as wrist injury from twisting it around and what not.

Bowling KID are you over 80!?

MOst people I know who do this have been bowling since before Sawbones was born.

It's a bad method.  But keep doing it, it is a lot of enjoyment for those watching!

REgards,

PS Never saw any one good do it!

YOUR NOT ANSWERING MY EFFING QUESTION!!!! phew....calm down....ok..im good. Ok, first off, why is it a bad method? Second, my question was simply is it going to affect my wrist/arm in any way, meaning injury wise (i.e. tendons and what not)
And no, Im not over 80, though with all my knowledge you may think so Im 15 going on 4

From an injury standpoint, probably not.  From a timing standpoint, as Bones stated, maybe.  The more movement you incorporate into your approach and armswing, the more things can go wrong.  With that said, there is a guy on my Mon. night league who avgs. 220+ doing that.
